The field of view is merely the extent of the surroundings which can be seen at any given moment . The keeping the optical eyes determines the extent of the field of view. Many birds can see 360 degrees - meaning they could see who or what's at the front end, the sides, and the relative back!
For humans, the combined filed of view is bound to around 180 degrees.
This explains why you can view from the ‘ corner of one's eye ’ even though you
are focusing a head of you.
Several eye conditions can restrict and degrade this field of view significantly, there by limiting a person’s capability to see greatly.
